Bethlehem-From Journalists and

On Thursday 21st of September a
public demonstration took place in
Bethlehem in protest against the
Separation Wall with the
participation of Muslim and
Christian religious people and
international volunteers. The march
was co-organized by the Arab
Educational Institute and The Holy
Land Trust in Bethlehem. The vigil
started from nearby the Benedictine
Monastery north of Bethlehem and
marchers reached the Wall and the
Israeli military checkpoint that
leads to Jerusalem.

Participants raised
Palestinian flags and posters
denouncing the policies of the
Israeli Occupation and demanding the
Israeli government to stop building
the Wall.
Before the beginning of
the vigil, a special prayer was held
at the Benedictine's Convent and was
followed by short speeches by Fr.
Ya'coub Abu Sa'da, the Parish Priest
of the Greek Catholic Church (Melkite)
in Bethlehem, and Sheikh Maher Assaf
and Mr.Fuad Giacaman, AEI Director,
and Mr. Sami Awad of Holy Land Trust
in Bethlehem.

In their words, the
speakers condemned the adverse
Israeli practices which violate all
international agreements and laws.
Israel is going ahead with its
repressive measures in contradiction
and violation of these international
laws. Speakers and participants
emphasized the necessity to put
pressure on Israel to stop its
escalation policy against our
occupied people and requested the
international community to intervene
in order to achieve a just peace
that guarantees a return of the
rights to their owners.
