On the 22nd
and 23rd of March 2006, a
team of German researches headed by
Prof. Johannes Lahenmann from
Rostoch University in Germany held a
conference in Amman. Mr. Fuad
Giacaman –Director General-
represented the AEI and delivered a
presentation and a study on the
Christian dimension in the new
Palestinian textbooks on national
and civic education.
Mr. Giacaman
participated, shared and made
interventions in the analysis and
discussions of the studies presented
by the other lecturers and
researchers. Among those who
attended the conference were Mr.
Salah Yassin –Director General of
the Development Center of the
Palestinian Curriculum- and Mrs.
Rima Al Kilani –Director General of
Special Education and Counseling.
This educational
seminar was a unique and rich
learning and teaching experience
where intercultural communication,
interreligious education knowing
about the religion of the other
skills were exchanged and deepened
among the different participants
from Germany, Algeria, Jordan and
Palestine. The findings of the
researches and studies will be
published in the near future. Many
conclusions, recommendations and
suggestions came out also, so as to
enhance religious tolerance, knowing
the other for mutual respect and for
sowing seeds of peace, tolerance and
equality through the educational
textbooks. |
