Christmas
Teacher's Day
UN International Day for Human Rights

 

The AEI-Open Windows (Affiliated to Pax Christi International) celebrates the religious and national occasions. So it organized two gatherings one in Bethlehem the other was in Ramallah on the occasions of Christmas, Teachers Day and UN International Day for Human Rights.

 

On the 17th December 2005, the first gathering took place at the Episcopal Center for Training and Technology in Ramallah, where the contact teachers and the school principals of Ramallah School network attended the event.

 

 

 

 

 

The AEI has been receiving wishes and prayers for peace and justice in Palestine from Pax Christi different sections in the world. So some teachers and school principals read some of these wishes and prayers. Mr. Fuad Giacaman –AEI Director General- welcomed the group. The AEI Choir group also attended this gathering and performed some Christmas hymns and peace songs conducted by Mr. Joseph Duqmaq. Fr. Ibrahim Hejazeen -Latin Patriarchate school principal in Ramallah- delivered a speech about the meanings of Christmas, he said that people paid attention to superficial things like the tree, gifts, clothes, etc. instead of renewing the heart, confession, closeness to God, etc.  Also Dr. Walid Mustafa – Coordinator of the Living in the Holy Land: Respecting Differences project- delivered a speech on the Human Rights and Teacher's Day in which he explained the importance of abiding by the Human Rights declaration by all adherents of the three religions. Then all people shared Christmas Lunch.

 

For the school network in Bethlehem the Christmas dinner took place on the 23rd December 2005 at the Golden Park Resort in Beit Sahour. Teachers and school principals were invited to attend this event. Mr. Fuad Giacaman, delivered a Christmas greeting speech which was followed by the beautiful  Christmas hymns and peace songs performed by the AEI choir group conducted by Mr. Joseph Duqmaq.  Then Dr. Walid Mustafa – Coordinator of the Living in the Holy Land: Respecting Differences project- delivered a speech on the Human Rights and Teacher's Day. Mr. Abdallah Shakarnah –Director of Bureau of Education in Bethlehem – spoke about the teacher's role in educating the students on concepts of love, justice, diversity, tolerance, openness and human respect. Also some teachers and school principals read some of these wishes and prayers then all people shared Christmas Lunch and exchanged greetings.
