As members of the
AEI, we participated
in the second Arab Oriental youth
meeting organized by the Arab
Women’s Media Center in Amman which
took place at Al-Quds Milia Hotel.

We were almost 30
participants from all over the
Middle East (Jordan, Palestine,
Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi, Arabia,
and Morocco).
In the first day,
there was an opening ceremony where
Princess Basma Bent Talal attended.
Her royal highness opened the
cultural exhibition and welcomed the
participants. All participants
exhibited their traditional clothes
and other objects connected to their
countries.

During the week we
had sessions on several topics such
as youth management, decision
making, gender issues, time
management, human rights,
information technology and other
important topics that deserve to be
studied and discussed. After each
session, we were divided into groups
to discuss and elaborate on the
topics.
The program included
also visits to some places like the
elderly house in Amman, the youth
house, and Al Dustour newspaper. We
also visited the Arab media center
where we met the staff and had a
general introduction about the
publications of this newspaper.
Moreover, we watched a documentary
on violence against women which was
followed by a discussion.

On the other hand,
one participant from each
participating countries had to
present a paper about the youth
difficulties and problems in their
country. I discussed in a power
point presentation the Palestinian
youth problems. I also, discussed
the main reason for the major youth
problems which is occupation. I
talked about unemployment, youth
immigration, transportation
obstacles and other related
problems.
The trip was very
interesting and beneficial to us as
we discussed many topics that are of
concern to us as youth. We also
learnt about other cultures and had
new friends. The most important
thing to us is that we were able to
present Palestine successfully and
share our experiences as
Palestinians with other youth from
the Arab world.
