Convocation of Peace Building Agencies

May 17, 2008
 (Naqba Week)

On Saturday, May 17th 2008 (Naqba Week) at 10:00 – 3:00 pm, the Arab Educational Institute - Open windows, was invited to participate in convocation of peace building agencies in the Bethlehem, Palestine.

Mr. Milad Vosgueritchian, AEI, general youth coordinator and two of our volunteers, Annaele (Belgium) and Iris (Dutch) presented the AEI on this day of inspiration, friendship, building and cooperation at the Tent of Nations on Karim Bishara, Nahalin, Palestine.

The purpose of the meeting: To get better acquainted as local organization and share what each of our institutions is doing. We wanted also to discover whether there are any ideas which we hold in common and finally to explore areas of possible cooperation.

Dr. Rick Martin an American volunteer started the opening of the day with playing a guitar and singing "I wish I knew how it would feel to be free". Mr. Daoud Nassar, Director, welcomed the attendees and asked them to introduce themselves and the organization work. The most sensitive, touchy and expressive part was when the participants shared their joy and frustrations of this present time. An amazing quote, by a pastor, from the participants was "there is a beginning for everything but remember there is an ending for everything even occupation, injustice and discrimination in the world.

This gathering included lunch break in nature, away from the city and in the presence of God with wonderful talks. At the end, the participants evaluated the day with good results and suggested strategies of how to support and cooperate with one another without competition and division but with unity and team work for a better network and efficient actions on the grassroots level.
