AEI-Open Windows News

Goodbye our volunteers who were among us during 2007! We thank you so much for all you have given us. At the same time, we hope that you learned and enjoyed your stay among us. We welcome our new volunteers and wish them a very good learning as well as enjoyable experience.

We are proud of the expansion of AEI-Open Windows into two more branches; the School of Communication and the Sumud Peace House. Because of this expansion, Elias Abu Akleh has now become responsible for the School of Communication, Fuad Giacaman for the Youth House and Toine van Teeffelen will be in charge of the Sumud/ Peace House.

The year 2007 was a real learning experience. We participated in several youth exchanges and seminars, regionally and internationally.

During summer 2007 we were a beehive at our Summer School of Communication:

The AEI parents, women, youth and kids groups are growing and part of AEI’s constituency

We welcome 2008 in the hope that AEI will obtain core funding for its running expenses. We are working hard to implement income-generating projects. We pray that the AEI branches will leave an impact in the Bethlehem/Palestinian community, and have an outreach to other areas in the West Bank. We will resume our walk and talk activity in the countryside of Bethlehem. International volunteers will be received and we will participate in more seminars for the enhancement of Palestinian education and in intercultural youth exchange projects. Professionally, we are planning to activate the AEI advisory board, as well as take care of a larger youth participation from outside our circles, as made possible by the outreach program at the Youth House.

On the national level, it is our sincere hope that the internal conflict will be over in order to achieve a free independent and united Palestinian state. We look forward to the end of the Israeli occupation and the economic siege imposed on our Palestinian people in Gaza.

With the very best regards,
Staff of AEI-Open Windows
