The living Star: a
symbolic action by inhabitants of
Bethlehem
next to Rachel's Tomb
December 21, 2007 |

At Friday 21 December, some hundreds of
inhabitants living in Bethlehem, as well as
visiting internationals, held a vigil in the
form of a living star next to the Wall at
Rachel’s Tomb. In a cold but clear evening, they
came out to bring out a message of peace and
solidarity in opposition to the Wall with its
message of division and expropriation.
Several buses transported the
participants to Rachel’s Tomb. On a large star
made of plywood, they took position on the outer
lines of the star, walked on it and sang
Christmas, peace and national songs.
AEI-Open Windows has
established a sumud peace house at the
Wall near Rachel’s Tomb to develop activities in
the community and to conduct advocacy about the
illegality of the Wall.
