Conference of
Documentation and Exchange of
Educational Information in Palestine |
December 15, 2007
AL Birah; Yesterday, the Conference of
Documentation and Exchange of Educational
Information in Palestine concluded its work,
which was organized by Teacher Creativity
Center, Early Childhood Resource Center and Arab
Educational Institute (AEI-Open Windows
Affiliated to Pax Christi International). The
participants issued a final statement, and
emphasized the importance of the discussions
that the conference experienced. They thanked
the different participating organizations in the
workshops of the conference, which were held
during two days in the Halls of the Palestinian
Red Crescent in Al Birah.
The final statement recommended
establishing a national center for
documentation, to include all the written, audio
and visual materials. They also suggested to
establish an electronic forum to exchange views
in this field. Ethic and professional standards
in documentation were also recommended. The
statement pointed to the importance of
documentation and exchange of experiences of the
participating organizations on different levels.
Moreover, it called to unite the numeral
encoding of the information in Palestine. It
also encouraged composition of books and
brochures, as well as establishing special
exhibition for books.
The final statement declared that a
committee will be established to follow-up the
implementation of the recommendations, and
submit them to the related authorities.
Mr. Rif'at Sabbah, director general of the
Teacher's Creativity Center, considered that the
conference contributed in highly addressing the
issue of documentation and exchange of
information, especially when it is not well
cared about. He was impressed with the fact that
all the opinions of the participating
organizations met totally to support the
importance of documentation in the development
of the Palestinian civil society and the
protection of the Palestinian national identity.
There was a consensus on the importance of
information in policymaking, and the importance
of establishing a national center for
documentation built on a scientific methodology.
Yet, this center should use a unified process
for analyzing the documented information. The
three organizing institutions will study the
recommendations and train cadres in the field of
documentation including two representatives of
the parents associations. |
