AEI-Open Windows Activities
On Thursday, March 6th, 2008, at 6:00
pm. The Arab Educational Institute held its
monthly Parent's Group meeting. The meeting was
very interesting, because it embedded
reflections of a Dutch volunteer called Nynke,
who reflected on her experience, impressions and
her voluntary experience in Bethlehem and the
development in her personality and self-esteem.
Secondly, there was another reflection on the
AEI statements against the crisis in Gaza
entitled "Save Palestine, save the Palestinians"
by Mr. Fuad Giacaman. But the most important
thing was the presentation/ reflections of Dr.
Walid Mustafa – Dean of Arts at Bethlehem
University and the coordinator of the AEI
inter-faith dialogue project entitled "Living in
the Holy Land: Respecting Differences".
Dr. Walid reflected on the internal Palestinian
conflict, importance of non-violent resistance
against the Israeli Occupation, and the State
Terrorism of Israel again the Palestinians.
The discussion that followed the presentation
was quite interesting because it presented the
people's worries and fears as well as their own
understanding of non-violence as a strategy to
resist occupation. The parents group members
agreed on setting-up an activity for the next
Thursday (March 13, 2008) as part of the Lent
activities, in which they will commemorate the
Karama Day, and celebrate the Mother's Day as
well. They planned having a light dinner, when
the women would prepare a vegetarian food
because of the Lent. |
